Coonabarabran Guides

Guiding in Coonabarabran is for girls and women aged from 5 upwards!
Not only for younger girls but also for adults. Scroll down this page to find out about the different ways you can engage in Guiding. It is never too late to start!

Are you looking for something different for your daughter which isn’t competitive, how about Guiding?
Guiding is FUN!. Our aim is to encourage girls to have a go, to enjoy and challenge themselves. We use a wide variety of activities which prepare girls for the future. At our meetings we assist the girls to choose activities they want to do and plan them so the philosophy and fundamentals of guiding are met.
The philosophy of guiding encourages girls to grow into self reliant, organised, co-operative, warm individuals, etc. Please feel free to come and visit the Guide Hall to see the Guides in action.

We have 2 very active Guide Units in Coonabarabran
Gumnut guides is for girls aged 5 – 9 years old. They meet on Mondays 3.30pm to 5pm. Check out their fabulous website for wonderful photos and info about our very active junior Guide unit. Why not check out the pages in our website such as the Dubbo Zoo, Eagle Boys, Wattlesprings and Halloween.

Waratah Guides is the unit for older girls aged over 10 years old. The Waratahs meet on Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm and boy do they have fun and adventures! Everything from Henna Tattoos, yabbying, abseiling and running their own outdoor camps.

Lone Guides is for girls who live a fair way out of town or can't make it to regular meetings. We have some very active Lone Guides in our community and they try and engage in our local activities when they can and join in statewide activitities such as Region and state wide camps. Weekly meeting activities are sent to them through the mail and if they have internet connection they can communicate with their leaders and other guides via email etc. You can see Lilly at the Muskette camp and Rose, Lilly and Gumnut Guides at the region Brownsea Island camp and Lone Guide Rose at the State Brownsea Island Jamboree.

Junior Leaders

Older Guides can learn leadership skills whilst supporting Guideleaders running units. We are very lucky to have Rosie, a lone guide, as junior leader with the Gumnut Guide Unit.

Guide Leaders

We are very lucky to have fabulous leaders for our units. We would love to have more to help out. Guide meetings require 2 adult supervisors. Currently we have one leader for the Gumnut Guide unit and we really need a second leader to help out.
If you would prefer to work with older girls 10 - 13 years old then you could help out with the Waratah Guide unit.
(watch this space for more info re leaders)

District Management Team

Adults can join our District Management team which works together to support our units through fund raising and managing our assets. We have a very large membership as a host of Coonabarabran residents help out with Driver Reviver during peak holiday times with funds raised through donation.
